THINK THE WORD
(You’re Not Different From The Way You Think)
👤 Pastor Chris Oyakhilome;
📖 TO THE BIBLE
Romans 12:2 CEV “Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.”
◀️ LET’S TALK
Connor unconsciously replayed negative thoughts in his mind whenever he walked home. “Why me?” he would muse, “I always have the short end of the stick when it comes to making friends. Nobody likes me! The same thing with my school applications; I just can’t get into the school of my choice, and I’m not getting any younger. What’s wrong with me?” He was unaware that his thoughts influenced his life in the downward direction and made him a victim of circumstance.
Most people, like Connor, are defeated in life because of their thinking; they’re enslaved by their wrong mentality. You’re not different from the way you think. Through months and years of continually thinking in a certain way, your mind becomes programmed in that direction, and that’s the direction your life will go. Philippians 4:8 says, “…whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” It’s actually an exhortation to think on the Word. Spend time to meditate on God’s Word.
Whenever you’re in a challenging situation, instead of thinking about the problem, think on the Word. As you reflect or think on God’s Word, there’ll be a transformation, a transfiguration that’ll bring about a solution and permanent change. For example, it doesn’t matter that the part of town you live is in the doldrums; refuse to see yourself as a victim. Think and talk like this: “Lord, you brought me into a place of abundance” (Psalm 66:12 NIV). See that that’s where you are now — in a place of abundance, wealth, prosperity and success which are independent of the principles and economics of this world. Have this consciousness. Think, and live as a victor, for that’s who you are in Christ.

🔊 Speak
I’m making progress by the Word, triumphing over adversities by the power of the resurrected Christ. God’s thoughts are my thoughts, and His power is revealed in and through me. I effect changes in my life through the application of God’s Word. Hallelujah!
