SALT OF THE EARTH ;
(Keep The Earth Flavoured And Well-Preserved)
TO THE BIBLE
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
If you’ve ever had a meal without any seasoning of any sort in it, I’m sure you can remember it for being bland and almost inedible. That just shows how important seasoning is in food. Salt is one of the world’s most popular and widely-used seasonings. But aside adding flavour to meals, did you know that salt is also used as a preservative? It helps prevent certain foods from decaying. No wonder Jesus calls us Christians “the salt of the earth.”
The moment you were born again, you became the salt of the earth. In other words, you became a preservative for the world. This means that your function and purpose, as a Christian, is to keep the earth flavoured and well-preserved.
The reason the entire world hasn’t been overrun by evil is because of the presence of God’s children in it. You’re the force restraining satan from unleashing terror on the earth. Your prayers and confessions, with the prayers and confessions of other Christians as yourself, have frustrated the evil workings of the enemy in the world, and will continue to do so until Jesus comes. Therefore, don’t slack in them; take your place as a preserving agent of the world. Refuse to let evil prevail around you by continuing steadfastly in prayer and soul winning. Always remember that your presence in your family, school, neighbourhood, and country is for the salvation and preservation of souls in there.
2 Thessalonians 2:7
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
I am the salt of the earth. I am called and chosen to preserve the lives of those around me, and to bring them to the knowledge of Christ’s salvation. Therefore, I forbid the enemy from perpetrating evil in my sphere of contact, in the Name of Jesus!
DAILY BIBLE READING
1 Corinthians 6, Psalms 119:1-112
Luke 18:1-8, 1 Samuel 7-8
Write out the names of people in your sphere of contact—your class, family, neighbourhood—who have not yet known the Lord. Pray for them, and win them to Christ.
