LET’S TALK
A most striking thought in the Bible, which many of God’s people seem not to be conscious of is the fact that, as Christians, we’re more than “saved people” or “good people.” We’re actually “saints of God.” The word “saint” as used in both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible means the same thing. It means “Holy ones; those who are consecrated or separated to God.”
I’m quite aware that some people say saints are those who are dead and gone to heaven, but that’s inconsistent with the scriptures. The Apostle Paul made mention of the saints at Philippi (Philippians 1:1). He also talked about the saints in the city of Colosse (Colossians 1:2) and the saints at Rome (Romans 1:7). These were all people who were living in these cities at the time. If you’re born again, you’re already a saint of God. You’re consecrated, chosen by God and separated from others. Until you recognise who you are, you will never walk in the light of it.
Some people find it difficult to accept that they are saints because of the wrong things they’ve done. Well, the Bible didn’t say that a saint is a perfect person. Rather, he’s being perfected through the ministry gifts (Ephesians 4:11-12). The word “Saint” isn’t a title either. So, it’s not a question of just using it as a prefix to your name; you shouldn’t lose the power of the revelation. It’s about understanding that the Spirit of God has chosen and consecrated you; you’ve been separated from sickness, poverty, death, sin, lack and the suffering that the ordinary people of the world go through. You’re now God’s property, bought with a price and set apart for the beautiful life in the beloved country of Zion!
