Your success in life is influenced by how highly you regard spiritual authority. Have Reverence for Spiritual Authority
To the Bible Jude 1:10-11 CEV
“But these people insult powers they don’t know anything about…. They have also rebelled against God, just as Korah did. Because of all this, they will be destroyed.”
LET’S TALK
The story of the conflict between David and Saul is so instructive. It highlights the importance of reverence for spiritual authority.
Saul had launched a “search and destroy” mission against David, because God had anointed David as his successor to the throne of Israel. But during one of his searches, the tables turned against Saul and he was at David’s mercy. David, however, recognised that Saul was anointed and wouldn’t lift his hand against him. Even when his men vehemently urged him to kill Saul in what to them was a moment of rare opportunity, David refused. Instead he said, “The Lord forbid that I should do this to my master, the Lord’s anointed, to put my hand out against him, when he is the anointed of the Lord” (1 Samuel 24:6 AMP).
David revered the anointing on Saul’s life and wouldn’t dare hurt him, even though he knew Saul was after his own life.
It’s so important that you recognise and revere spiritual authority. You must have high regard for ministers of God and people in positions of spiritual authority. Be careful not to constitute yourself into a critic against them. If you find yourself where such criticisms are going on, refuse to join in. Romans 14:4 says, “Who are you to judge the servants of someone else? It is their own Master who will decide whether they succeed or fail. And they will succeed, because the Lord is able to make them succeed.”
Be like the great King David; show respect for the anointing and for spiritual authority.
