YOU ARE GOD’S GLORY;
TO THE BIBLE Ephesians 1:16-17 RSV
“I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him”
The name you answer to is very important because it says a lot about you and your life. Observe in the opening verse that Apostle Paul calls God the Father of glory. It means God has named you His glory, and when He looks at you, He sees you as His effulgent glory, not someone full of flaws and mistakes, Hallelujah! The Christian life is a call to glory and virtue; that means He’s called you to a life of honor, dignity, and excellence. This ought to be your everyday experience. Imagine if your confessions have been in line with this all your life! With this understanding, no matter what situation you find yourself in, your life will always be one of honor, dignity, and excellence.
Some have their lives at variance with what the Word says, and they wonder why. The glory-life seems veiled to them because of ignorance and the blindness of their hearts. However, that veil is removed through the knowledge of God’s Word. The Holy Spirit, through the Apostle Peter, tells us how this works: “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3).
So, He’s saying that in getting to know the Lord as Peter mentioned above, that God would grant you “…the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened…” (Ephesians 1:17-18). The word “revelation” is the Greek: “apokalupsis,” which means the unveiling; an insight into reality. Then the Greek word translated “enlightened” is “Photizo,” which means to turn on the light in your heart. Therefore, as you study about God and learn about the things of the Spirit; as you get acquainted and familiar with Him, and relate with Him, these spiritual realities will be unveiled to you.
God’s Supreme Revelation
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had [c]by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
1 Peter 5:10
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
Dear Father, I thank you for granting me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you. I was born for your glory and therefore I show forth your glory every day, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
