(God’s Love For You Is Unconditional)
TO THE BIBLE: 1 John 4:16
“And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”
Jesus once told the remarkable story of a certain young man who demanded that his father give him his inheritance and let him alone to be in charge of his own life. The father did just as his son had requested, but the young man went out of control and squandered his entire fortune on a lavish lifestyle.
Soon afterwards, he was completely broke, so much so that he scrambled for food with pigs. But one day, he came to his senses and decided to go back to his father (Luke 15:17-18). As soon as the old man saw him coming from afar, he rushed out to embrace his son. The first thing he told his father was, “Forgive me,” and his father did!
This story is allegoric of God’s love towards His children. When a child of God who’s strayed from the truth returns to Him, He receives him gladly, sets him on the right path, and places him in his rightful place as an heir of the Kingdom. That young man’s father killed his “fatted calf” to celebrate his lost son’s return, an action that paralleled God’s sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus, for our salvation. Understand, therefore, that God’s love for you is unconditional. Rejoice and be glad about this truth always.
John 3:16; 1 John 4:18
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your great love. Thank you for your everlasting kindness and your mercy towards me. I rejoice in the knowledge that your love for me is unending and perfect, and I manifest that love to my world today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
