(Pray With Earnest Convictions For Your Country)
TO THE BIBLE
1 Timothy 2:1-4 NIV
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”
LET’S TALK
Joanna grew worrisome about the things she watched on television about the country she lived in. She thought, “Why does God keep letting these things happen?” One day, as she worshipped with other members in her local church group, her eyes fell on the words in 1 Timothy 2:1-4. “Hey, God wants me to pray and change things in my country, and I never knew it!” she thought after reading. She suddenly realised she had a duty to pray for her country firstly before anything else.
You, as a Christian, have the responsibility of praying for your country, and for you to change things in your country through prayers, you’ll have to pray the way Elijah prayed: earnest, heartfelt and continued prayer (James 5:16 AMPC). This is a sustained kind of prayer that is marked by a deep feeling of conviction. You don’t just pray it once and stop, you continue seriously and earnestly, until you achieve your purpose for praying.
So, it doesn’t matter in which sector you want things changed; as one individual you can effect that change if you’d pray in the manner we’re studying today. For example, you can pray for a greater influence and impact of the Gospel in your country. Pray in the Spirit intensely and intercede for the work of the ministry to proceed by free course in your nation. Pray specially for a change in the laws of your country that don’t favour the spread of the Gospel.
Pray in a heartfelt, continued manner for the government and its officials, lawmakers and decision makers, that the Lord will grant them the required ideas and the wisdom to do what’s right and necessary for the furtherance of the Gospel at all times. Don’t give up praying for your country. Continue in earnest prayer until you achieve your desired objective in prayer!

PRAY
Dear Father, I pray that there’ll be continued progress and development in every state of my country. I ask for the supply of your grace to all the leaders and the wisdom to know and to do what is required for my nation to experience growth and development according to your good will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
