To disciple means to train younger believers in the doctrines of Christ and help them become committed Christians. It’s Your Divine Responsibility
TO THE BIBLE Matthew 28:19-20 NIV
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Every child of God has a responsibility to disciple someone else. Observe closely the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20; notice He says: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” This means that whatever Jesus has commanded us, we’re not only to tell others to do the same, but also teach them how to do it.
You may be a young Christian, and you’re thinking, ‘I just gave my life to Christ a few months ago; what can I possibly teach someone else?” Well, the truth is there are those who don’t know as much as you, and you don’t have to wait till you become an ordained minister before you disciple them. Right from the moment you made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, you became responsible for someone else who hasn’t known Him as much as you do.
Take up this divine responsibility today, irrespective of how recently you accepted the gospel or your level of functionality in your church. Be a responsible Christian, one whom the Lord can trust to lead others to Him and teach them to observe all that He has commanded.
Romans 15:1-3, 1 Timothy 4:12
Dear Father, thank you for entrusting me with the great responsibility of guiding others into becoming committed to you. I declare that I have your divine wisdom and power to guide them aright in the way of the Lord, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Be conscious that you’re to guide others in the things of the Spirit. Don’t be timid or quiet wherever you are today; display your new personality in Christ, and help someone else become committed to Him.
