THE BEST WORK OUT ROUTINE PART 2: FIT AND FLOURISHING
Last week, we looked at spiritual exercises and how to deal with spiritual flabbiness. Studying diets and types of exercises, we started with one type of exercise: Waiting on the Lord.
Today, we’ll look at another type of exercise, which is: Speaking in tongues.
This is one form of exercise that affects every part of you. 1 Corinthians 14:4 says, “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself….” Bodily exercise profits the body, but speaking in tongues edifies the Spirit. This was why a spiritual giant such as Apostle Paul would say, “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all” (1 Corinthians 14:18). He boasted of the fit state of his spirit man.
Stay in shape:
To maintain your fit state, you have to be persistent about your work out routines; don’t stop speaking in tongues! Make it a habit to do this on a regular basis, lest you fall back to eating junk and building flabs. “But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit” (Jude 1:20 AMP)
Some people let go of trainings, thinking they’ve gotten the desired results. Before long, they begin to carry even more of the “baggage” than they previously had. So it is spiritually. Hebrews 12:1 says, “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”
Just make sure you keep praying, speaking in tongues and always, waiting on the Lord! “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.” (1 Corinthians 9:24-25).
