TAKE A STAND FOR CHRIST
(Be Strong In The Face Of Opposition)
TO THE BIBLE
2 Timothy 3:12 CEV
“Anyone who belongs to Christ Jesus and wants to live right will have trouble from others.”
When God sent Moses to Egypt to liberate the children of Israel, he faced great challenges in his mission. The Pharaoh himself resisted Moses and the magicians posed much difficulty in his way. But Moses stood his ground for God, and refused to be daunted by their ploys. God, on His part, also proved Himself strong and mighty through Moses in that period.
Every time you’re taking a stand for God, there’ll be opposition. Don’t you ever think it’s going to be easy! No, it won’t. Some people presume that since they’re honest and kind, everybody would love them and accept what they’re doing. But not so, fella! Just because you’re nice doesn’t mean your mission is going to be a smooth sailing one.
Perhaps you’ve decided to evangelise your neighbourhood or campus. Understand that persecution could come from different areas, and in various degrees. It may come from your family, friends, neighbours, fellow students, or even the authorities. They may just express dislike for you and your idea, sometimes without a clear reason. But always remember that God already spoke about this. So don’t be surprised when it happens. Just hold on to God’s Word, stand your ground for the Lord, and let the Holy Spirit be your help and guide.
And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
:23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
I’m bold and undaunted in the face of opposition because the greater One lives in me. I hold firm to the Word of God, which is my light. I stand strong on Christ the solid rock. I’m unshakable. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
