(Against All Hope, Believe In Hope)
TO THE BIBLE: Romans 4:18 KJV
“Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be.”
LET’S TALK
Why does the Bible describe Abraham as the father of faith? To answer this, you have to carefully consider the challenges he faced and how he overcame them. God had already told him he would have a child through whom all the nations of the earth would be blessed, and that the child would come from his wife, Sarah. But on two occasions, he had problems with two kings who wanted his beautiful wife, who wasn’t only barren at the time but had also passed into menopause.
Though these negative situations came up to contradict the Word God had spoken to him, Abraham stood his ground. Instead of crying about the seemingly difficult conditions, he refused to be moved, and instead, continually gave glory to God. The Bible says, “And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform” (Romans 4:19-21). No wonder he had miracles at the end of the day!
Don’t ever give up on the Word, for the Word never fails. Like Abraham, against hope, believe in hope, knowing that what God has said concerning you will surely come to pass. When your faith is challenged, don’t cry or cower; just keep releasing faith-filled words!
