TO THE BIBLE: Hebrews 12:2 GNB
“Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God’s throne.”
LET’S TALK
“It’s so unfair! I try to be sweet and nice to people, but nobody appreciates it. Instead, I’m taken advantage of and laughed at most times,” Belinda contemplated as she lay in bed. “Maybe I should start being mean to everyone, and then I won’t feel so bad when people act the way they do.” Thankfully, that night she read James 1:2-4, and took counsel from the scriptures and chose to be joyful, no matter how people treated her.
Some people, unlike Belinda, choose to remain unhappy because of certain nasty experiences they’ve had. They blame others for their misfortune and make them victims of their cynicism. That’s because they fail to realize that no one has the obligation to make anyone else happy. You’re the one to choose to live happily and enjoy your life, no matter what. To do this, you’ve got to learn to depend on, and use, the Word of God. It provides the solution to every problem, so trust it. When you have questions in your mind, or you find yourself in an unpleasant situation, it’s the Word you need.
God’s Word in you will make you what it talks about! Study and meditate on the Word consistently. Take it in, digest it, and let it mingle with your spirit! Listen for what the Holy Spirit will tell you to encourage you, or to give you direction. Through the Word, you’ll find that there’s nothing you can’t do, and there’s nothing you can’t have! God’s Word is the true light (John 1:9); let that light guide you in all things.
