Praying in tongues is an effective means of spiritual communication with the Lord; it transcends the natural mind or intellect. Build Yourself Up Like An Edifice
TO THE BIBLE 1 Corinthians 14:4 AMP
“He who speaks in a [strange] tongue edifies and improves himself….”
LET’S TALK
The word “edify” is from the Greek word “oikodomeo,” which means to construct or build up, much in the same sense as building or constructing an edifice. In 1 Corinthians 14:4, the Apostle Paul, by the Spirit, made us understand that when we speak in other tongues, we’re building up ourselves, much like people working on a construction site would build an edifice, brick by brick.
In Acts 20:32, Paul also said to the brethren at Ephesus, “…I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up….” Connecting this with our opening text lets us know that speaking in tongues works in conjunction with the Word to build your spirit. If you want to grow stronger spiritually, not only should you study and listen to God’s Word, you should also speak in tongues frequently.
Praying and speaking in other tongues is an effective means of spiritual communication with the Lord; it transcends the natural mind or intellect (1 Corinthians 14:14). As you speak in tongues, you’re stirred; the anointing wells up like currents from your spirit, and you’re transported to the higher realms of the supernatural. You don’t need to wait for special times to do this; speak in tongues wherever you are and programme your spirit for the life of success and dominion.
