(Don’t Just Flow With The Currents)
TO THE BIBLE: John 16:13
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
LET’S TALK
After Bryan concluded his driving tests and finally got his licence, he was more than excited to begin driving. Whenever he had the opportunity to drive, he’d meticulously observe all the driving ethics he’d learnt during his lessons. Sometimes, he’d see other motorists disobey traffic signs, and wonder why. He once asked his dad, and he replied: “Son, never break a traffic rule. Just because others are doing it doesn’t make it right.”
You must learn to follow the voice and leading of the Holy Spirit, rather than follow people blindly. It’s common to hear the saying: “The majority cannot be wrong.” As nice as this statement sounds, it’s not true. It isn’t based on God’s Word. Bible history records how the whole world was destroyed and only a family of eight—Noah and his household—was saved. The reason being that Noah lived a life that was in accordance with God’s will and purpose! So if it was true that the majority couldn’t be wrong, then God wouldn’t have destroyed everyone else in Noah’s day, saving only Noah and his family.
Learn to follow the Holy Spirit, and not the voice of ‘the people.’ No other personality is worth following but the Holy Spirit. He’s your greatest friend and teacher, the One who guides you into all realities and makes God’s presence tangible to you. When you yield yourself to him through the Word, you’ll find yourself making the best decisions and the right choices always. You’ll always do the right thing the first time, be at the right places at the right time, and live a life worthy of emulation.
