(Keep Anger Far Away From You)

TO THE BIBLE: Proverbs 14:17
“A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a man of wicked intentions is hated.”

LET’S TALK
One of the things the Lord seeks to do in your life is to have His love fully expressed through you, such that you’re patient, meek, kind, and not easily provoked. That’s why He says in James 1:19, “…Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry” (GNB). God wants you to control your temper because no one with a bad temper ever has permanent success in life.

You should never allow a bad temper get the better of you. Ecclesiastes 7:9 also says, “Keep your temper under control; it is foolish to harbour a grudge” (GNB). This reminds me of Moses. God said that he was the meekest man on the face of the earth (Numbers 12:3). Moses couldn’t hurt a fly, so to speak. However, the one time that Moses lost his temper, it cost him his ministry. God instructed him to speak to a rock to bring out water for the children of Israel (Numbers 20:8), but in his anger against the Israelites, “…Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out…” (Numbers 20:11).

That was it for Moses! He got a “red card” for losing his temper, for God said to him, “…you will not lead them into the land that I promised to give them” (Numbers 20:12 GNB). So, I urge you today to never allow anger make you do things you’d regret later.

Dear Father, I thank you for giving me a meek and quiet spirit, which is of great price in your sight. I’m patient, kind, full of mercy, and not easily provoked. The characteristics of God’s love are manifested in me today, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
