James 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
▶️ LET’S TALK
“Hey Tee, what do you always mutter under your breath?” Michelle asked Teresa during their weekend community service project.
Teresa smiled and said, “I’m speaking God’s Word to myself.”
“What for?” Michelle inquired. “I’m using the Word to frame my world,” Teresa answered her.
“That doesn’t even sound logical,” Michelle quipped. “How can you use words that are intangible to recreate your tangible world? It just doesn’t make sense,” a perplexed Michelle concluded.
“The walk of faith isn’t by logic, Michelle. We do it because Jesus told us to, and He never lied to anybody!”
When you come to spiritual maturity in Christ, you’re quick to respond to God’s Word without any arguments; you just take the required actions because you understand that’s where the blessing is. It doesn’t matter how irrational the instruction might appear, as long as it’s God’s Word, be quick and willing to act on it.
Abraham, for instance, was instructed by God to sacrifice his only son Isaac. As grave as this instruction was, Abraham didn’t question it; he acted accordingly and would have offered up his son as a burnt sacrifice, had the Lord not stopped him (Genesis 22:2-12). His motivation was simple: God said to do it, and that’s it! This should be your attitude to the Word always.
Your life’s delight should be to do the things the Lord said to do. His instruction to you may seem illogical, but be wise and do what He says, because God’s “foolishness” is more intelligent than man’s wisdom. God’s Word will always show you the “more excellent” way. Therefore, yield yourself always to the Lordship of the Word, and watch it mould, correct, transform, and position you for greatness.

Dear Father, your Word to me is the greatest of all treasures; I’ll forever yield myself to the lordship of your Word to mould, correct and fashion me into that glorious personality that you’ve ordained me to be, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
