1 Corinthians 14:4 “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.”
▶️ LET’S TALK
Jude 1:20 AMPC says, “But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit.” Hallelujah! How glorious it is to know that your progress is in your hands! You can literally achieve measurable progress, build and improve the quality of your life! All these happen when you pray in the Spirit, that is, when you pray in tongues.
When you speak in tongues, there’s a freshness that’s introduced to your spirit, a freshness that comes with new strength. The Apostle Peter calls it “…times of refreshing…” (Acts 3:19). There’s a refreshing, rejuvenation, and flourishing for you as you consistently speak in tongues.
Think about the eagle which is greatly admired for its ability to ride the storms due to its powerful wings; when those wings begin to wane in strength, the eagle goes in for a refreshing time, during which it sheds off the old feathers for new ones that can take it for the next 30 to 40 years of its life! As you speak in tongues, your inward man is renewed and invigorated with durable energy, a staying power that keeps you above the storms of life.
The Apostle Paul revealed speaking in tongues as one of his secrets of success in ministry. He was bold to tell the Corinthian church, “I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all” (1 Corinthians 14:18). It goes to show how much he spoke in tongues, and no wonder he was so successful. Choose to speak in tongues more than ever. Edify your spirit and improve yourself spiritually. Make progress in your life by speaking in tongues!
