COMMUNICATION DEEPENS FELLOWSHIP ~ PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen” (2 Corinthians 13:14).
Every relationship without communication suffers; be it relationship with your children, your spouse, your co-workers, or with God. Communication—good and frequent communication—helps or enhances relationships. If you have a relationship with someone you don’t talk with, that relationship will suffer setbacks. No matter how proximate you may be to that person, without continually exchanging thoughts by talking to each other, your relationship won’t grow.
This is the reason we’re to constantly fellowship with the Lord through prayer. Our opening scripture says, “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and THE COMMUNION OF THE HOLY GHOST, BE WITH YOU ALL.” This is an indication of the kind of relationship we’re to cultivate with the Holy Spirit; a communion; a sharing together. The Father and the Son are in heaven, but the Holy Spirit is here with us. Hence, He’s the God we know and relate with in the earth today, and He lives in us, fostering this extraordinary communion with divinity.
There’s no other way to develop an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit aside communing with Him constantly in prayer, and through meditation on the Word. Consciously create time to talk to and with Him the same way you’ll perhaps schedule to talk to a friend, colleague or loved one.
Remember, the Holy Spirit is a Person with emotions, will and intellect; therefore relate with Him as such. The highest means of communication with Him is by speaking in tongues; and as you do, He’ll make the presence of God real to you and the miraculous your constant experience.
Exodus 14:15-16 RSV says, “The LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. Lift up your rod and stretch out your hands over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go on dry ground through the sea.”
Some years ago, I organised a crusade together with some of my friends and we witnessed amazing miracles. One of such miracles was the healing of a little girl who had braces on her legs because she could not walk. The little girl’s sisters had brought her to the front, a few meters away from the platform I ministered on. I did not lay hands on her, I just stretched my hand towards her and she was completely healed; she walked normally without the braces, glory to God!
Do you realize that as a Christian, your hands have God’s power in them to heal the sick? Jesus said so (Mark 16:17-18)! He laid his hands on the sick, healed them of their diseases (Luke 4:40), and you are just like Him. You shouldn’t allow anyone tell you miracles are unreal or can only take place using ‘black magic’, whatever that means. Refuse to be ignorant of God’s Word and His power in you.
Understand that as a child of God, you are not ordinary! You are anointed with divine ability, and there is a lot of power surging through those hands of yours! Therefore, your hands are not just for holding and carrying things; God stretches His hands in and through them, transmitting His healing power to those hurting around you. Use your hands today in faith using the Name of Jesus, and watch as signs and wonders follow you.
