Proverbs 1:7 NASB “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
▶️ LET’S TALK
Isaac, a farmer, was experiencing what the experts of his time understood as a drought, and the only professional advice they could proffer was for farmers to migrate to a land that had a water source – Egypt. While Isaac was packing his bags and getting himself ready to migrate to Egypt with his fellow farmers, God spoke to him and said, “…Don’t go to Egypt” (Genesis 26:2 TLB).
Often, the Word of God comes to us as spiritual instructions. Proverbs 4:13 NIV says, “Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.” When an instruction of the Spirit is given, they must also be acted upon. Any form of resistance or disobedience is what God refers to as “witchcraft.” The Bible says, “…rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry…” (1 Samuel 15:23). Thankfully, Isaac acted on God’s instruction to him to stay put, and he received a hundredfold harvest in a place where there was severe famine! (Genesis 26:12). Be wise; be smart as Isaac.
Even when God’s instructions are contrary to your human reasoning, be like Peter: act on them. When the Lord Jesus asked Peter to cast his net into the sea after a fruitless fishing expedition (Luke 5), even though the instruction was contrary to Peter’s reasoning, he obeyed and got a miracle for it. God’s guidance and instructions may come to you in the most unexpected way, follow them because those instructions are your promotion.

Dear heavenly Father, thank you for the counsel I receive from your Word and the divine instruction that comes to me daily by your Spirit. I’m a doer of your Word, not a hearer only; I take fast hold of instruction; my heart is attentive, and I act fast on your Word. Promotion and advancement are evident in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
