LET’S TALK

Imagine an athlete who sprinted out of the blocks in a 100-meter race with great speed and determination but suddenly pulled to the side of the tracks halfway through, because he’d sustained muscle cramps? Despite an amazing start, such an athlete wouldn’t have mounted the medalists’ podium, because he didn’t finish the race.

Some people are this way: They start out on an assignment or project with great enthusiasm and vigour, but soon after, their excitement fizzles out and they fail to complete what they started out on such a promising note.

As someone reaching for the stars, you should have a different approach to things. When a responsibility is committed to you, ensure you put your best into it and discipline yourself to finish it well and strong. This should be your attitude towards any assignment or duty. The Bible says, “Something completed is better than something just begun…” (Ecclesiastes 7:8 CEV).

Whenever you have the opportunity to serve, always strive to be the one who can be depended upon. Don’t be that person who always starts things but never completes them. Rather, be the one who starts and finishes well. That’s the life of success.
