TO THE BIBLE: Hebrews 13:5-6 TLB
‘Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never, never fail you nor forsake you.” That is why we can say without any doubt or fear, “The Lord is my Helper, and I am not afraid of anything that mere man can do to me.”’
LET’S TALK
The major reason people cheat and steal is greed. It’s also the driving force behind anyone who tries to get rich quick by scamming and defrauding people. The Bible however warns against this: “A faithful man shall abound with blessings, but he who makes haste to be rich [at any cost] shall not go unpunished” (Proverbs 28:20 AMP). People who cheat others unwittingly destroy their own lives. They can’t have permanent success in life, because God abhors greed.
Greed is a kind of taskmaster that holds people captive. It rules them and dictates what they should do. It gives them unrealistic visions to pursue and will not let them act right. This was the reason Judas betrayed Jesus, and eventually destroyed himself. Only the Word of God sets a person free from greed.
Never submit to greed. If you’re tempted to do what’s wrong, don’t yield, because God says; “My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent” (Proverbs 1:10 AMP). Don’t be carried away by the devil’s tricks to go after ill-gotten wealth. Such wealth will develop wings and fly away. Never cheat anybody nor take undue advantage of anyone. Refuse to be greedy!
