BE A ROCK, NOT A LEAF
(Crises Shouldn’t Cause You To Checkmate Your Promotion)
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome;
TO THE BIBLE
Proverbs 24:10 MSG “If you fall to pieces in a crisis, there wasn’t much to you in the first place.”
LET’S TALK
Felicia threw in the towel, after one week of registering at the gym, when she started feeling some discomfort in her joints. “I don’t think I can continue with this,” she’d say, “there’s too much pain.” The day she missed gym practice, her gym instructor noticed her absence, dialed her phone, and she reeled out excuses and reasons she couldn’t come in for her training. She wouldn’t put in enough work to get fit and win the prize, as she’d wanted to become a world class athlete in the Olympics, representing her country in the 400m relay race
Some people are just like Felicia; they always start a task and never see it to the end, due to some trying times and challenges faced along the way. Thus, they checkmate their chances of promotion. James 1:2 says, “Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides” (MSG). Why would God admonish you to rejoice when tests and challenges come at you on all sides? It’s because He knows that victory is in your spirit.
If you’re born again, the Bible describes you as an overcomer; you’re more than a conqueror. Accordingly, no situation you face should overwhelm you. You have what it takes to confront and overcome any trial, temptation or adversity. So you must not cower, give in or faint under any pressure whatsoever.
Be tough. Recognise every adversity, tests and trials as necessary challenges to strengthen your faith, and as agents for your promotion. Realise that God has ordained you to win always, irrespective of the seeming setbacks in your way. 2 Corinthians 2:14 says, “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ….” You’ve been brought into a life of unceasing victories; therefore maintain your solid front and keep the victory shout on. Keep declaring who and what Christ is in you!

? Speak
I’m fully convinced of my eternal victory over satan, the world and every adversity that may come my way, because I’m born of God. I’m led forth today in victory and triumph, and my faith prevails, for greater is He that’s in me, than he that’s in the world.
