MIND YOUR LANGUAGE
(Don’t Speak Carelessly)
TO THE BIBLE: James 3:2 TLB
“…If anyone can control his tongue, it proves that he has perfect control over himself in every other way”
LET’S TALK
As a Christian, you should be careful the way you talk. Be mindful how you speak and what you say, irrespective of the situation. When you study Luke 23:33-39 (CEV), you’ll realise why one of the two thieves crucified with Jesus couldn’t be helped. He was careless with his words! He challenged Jesus, saying, “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and save us!”
He actually wanted help but asked for it the wrong way. He spoke wrongly, based on his emotions and circumstances. The second thief rebuked him saying, “Don’t you fear God? Aren’t you getting the same punishment as this man? We got what was coming to us, but he didn’t do anything wrong.” He then looked at Jesus and asked for forgiveness. He spoke wisely, and Jesus immediately assured him that he would be with Him in paradise that day. These two thieves were in the same predicament but what they said was what made all the difference.
It’s important that you carefully consider your words before you speak them. Refuse to talk carelessly or make jokes using negative words. Don’t be one of those who say anything based on their senses and emotions; rather, let your words always line up with God’s Word. Your words are powerful and God takes them seriously.

Pray
Dear Father, I thank you for teaching me the importance of talking right. I’m sensitive to the leading of your Spirit and He teaches me the right words to use in my communication. My words are filled with faith and bring life and upliftment to everyone who hears me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Act
Always speak faith-filled words and fill the hearts of those listening to you with faith and hope in Christ. You can say these words right now: “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I’ve got the life of God in me. I’m a success!”
