TO THE BIBLE: 2 Timothy 3:12 NIV
“In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted”
LET’S TALK
Chloe’s friends stopped talking to her and even avoided her, because she had received Christ and started telling others about the Lord Jesus at school. On her way home from school one day, she mused, “Why am I being ill-treated by my friends? I thought things would be just great, now that I’m a child of God.” She didn’t realise at the time that this was just part of the persecution the Lord assured that we would face as Christians.
What’s persecution, you might ask? It’s the harsh treatment from others to compel you to comply with their own way of doing things. It’s promised to every believer, and it will come at different stages in your Christian journey. It’s what makes you separate from the crowd, and as one who lives by God’s Word, you’ll surely be persecuted. Jesus said: “Remember the word that I said to you, “A servant is not greater than his master.” If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also” (John 15:20).
The beautiful thing about all this is, as you remain standing on God’s Word, irrespective of the persecutions that come your way, the Lord Himself will honour you. He doesn’t mind trials or temptations coming your way, since He knows He’s already made you more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).
So, never be afraid of persecution. Expect it; embrace it, because it’s necessary to strengthen your faith and conviction in what you’ve believed. The measure of persecution you face is the measure of training you have. Irrespective of the diverse tests, trials, and persecutions you might face, rejoice in the Lord, because you’re more than a conqueror and have overcome them all!

Pray
I thank you Father for the comfort and strength that I get from your Word; therefore in the midst of raging opposition, I shall not waver but shall continue in your Word, by the power of your Spirit, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
