LET’S TALK
In your elementary science, you must have learnt about the development cycle of the butterfly. It starts out as a little egg that hatches into a worm-like larva. The larva then undergoes a change in state and becomes a pupa, which is usually enclosed in a cocoon. The pupa in turn undergoes internal changes, and the process is completed when a butterfly forces its way through the cocoon, stretches out its wings, and flies away. That’s metamorphosis!
The word “transformed” used in Romans 12:2 is from the Greek “metamorphoo,” which means metamorphosis—a transfiguration or change in state. After giving your heart to Christ, there’s a transformation that begins with the renewing of your mind through God’s Word. Until your mind is renewed, and your mentality is reprogramed to that of a victor, you’ll only live at the larva or pupa stage, never fully exploiting and enjoying all that God has for you. Sadly, many linger at this stage for too long, only to discover later in life that everything they had been praying, and crying for was theirs all along.
Thank God you’re still young; don’t wait too long to get to know the things that belong to you in Christ. Go passionately for the Word; study it, meditate on it, and talk it all the time. It’ll transform you and make your life so beautiful and gloriously unrecognizable from your past, just like that beautiful butterfly is totally different from the larva or pupa from which it came.
