(Jesus—God’s Perfect Example Of Love)
TO THE BIBLE: John 15:13
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
LET’S TALK
In spite of all the terrifying acts that brought the fear of God into the hearts of the Israelites, they still broke His law and didn’t obey His commandments. So God introduced a new principle — the love-principle. The Bible says He demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, He sent Jesus to die for us (Romans 5:8). We weren’t the ones that called out to God to send Jesus to come die for us and save us from our sins.
The Lord reached out to us with the message of His love and reconciled us to Himself: “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18). In John 3:16, the Bible says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 15:13 also tells us, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” This is exactly what God did for us by sending Jesus to die for our sins. As a Christian, you’re greatly loved of God, and His love has been shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit who lives in you (Romans 5:5). That means you’ve become an ambassador of His love; you’re to love those around you with the same kind of love God demonstrated towards you. This kind of love goes beyond the barriers of every wrong; it is unfeigned, unconditional and unlimited.

Pray
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for the love you demonstrated by sending Jesus as a propitiation of the sins of the whole world. This same love is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, your love flows out freely and genuinely through me today, to my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
