(Don’t Cringe In Times Of Persecution)

LET’S TALK
“Smack” went the sound of the belt on Samantha’s back. She had returned from church and met her father sitting by the door. The meeting at church finished late, and her dad didn’t quite understand her sudden interest in church. But Samantha had recently given her heart to the Lord and wanted to know all about Jesus Christ. However, her dad wasn’t happy about it all and decided to punish her. But still, she wasn’t daunted.
Persecution is a promise for every believer. It’s necessary for your promotion and will come at different levels in your life. It’s what makes you different from others and separates you from the crowd. It’s the harsh treatment from others to compel you to comply with their own way of doing things, and as a Christian who lives by God’s Word, you’ll surely be persecuted (John 15:20).
You might be wondering why this should be—why does God allow persecution come your way. The truth is, He’s already made you more than a conqueror ahead of those challenges (Romans 8:37). Jesus knew you would encounter problems and challenges in this world; that’s why He said, “…Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). So expect persecution and never be afraid of it. It’s important you do so, because the measure of persecution that you face is the measure of training that you have. Irrespective of the diverse tests, persecutions or trials that you might face, rejoice; for they’ll only drive your roots deeper in God.

I thank you Father for the comfort and strength that I get from your Word. In the midst of raging opposition, I don’t waver but continue in your Word, doing that which I’m supposed to do, by the power of your Spirit, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
