(Pay Attention To The Music You Listen To)
TO THE BIBLE

“Pay attention to how you listen! Everyone who has something will be given more, but people who have nothing will lose what little they think they have.”
LET’S TALK
“James, turn that music down; it’s too loud!” Lydia bellowed across the corridor at her younger brother.
“No I won’t; I like it loud, so leave me alone!” he retorted.
“Hey, I’m not trying to control you; I’m just trying to read here, and, besides, that music isn’t good for you. So, keep it down.”
“Ok, so what music is “good” for me?” James asked sarcastically, as he turned down the volume. Good question from James. What constitutes good music for the Christian? Well, there are several things to consider:
#1. What’s the message of the music?
#2. Who’s the messenger of that music?
#3. What does all of these represent, and what is it they’re really telling you?
Do you read between the lines when you listen to what’s being said, or you’re just having fun listening to the beat Does the song make you worldlier or godlier? Does it stir in you worldly, carnal inclinations or godly inspirations? You see, the result of this inquiry is what tells you whether or not you should be listening to a song.
If you know the message and the messenger aren’t from God, then, of course you should reject it all together. Remember the Word says: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable— if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” (Philippians 4:8 NIV). And in the case of music, listen only to such things. So, it’s time to clean out your playlist and re-load with godly, wholesome, inspiring music!

SPEAK
I listen to that which is lovely, pure and noble. I love listening to true and wholesome music, music that’s inspiring and godly.
