CHRIST’S ULTIMATE EXPLOIT(Christ Had A Higher Purpose Than Just Dealing With Sin)
? Pastor Chris
? TO THE BIBLE
1 John 1:3 ”That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
▶️ LET’S TALK
“Why do you think Jesus came, Jean?” Tim asked during the weekly Bible study meeting.
“He came to save us from our sins,” she replied without hesitation.
“Better still, He came to destroy the works of the devil,” Carl, another group member, added enthusiastically.
Most Christians, like Jean and Carl, think this was all the Lord Jesus came to Planet Earth to do, but that’s only half true. The Master came to do much more than eschew sin and neutralise the works of the devil; these were just a means to an end. He accomplished greater feats than these!
The Apostle Paul revealed a powerful truth when he said in 1 Corinthians 1:9, “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” This is so powerful, and it consummates His purpose for coming. This is the same truth we observe in the underlined part of our opening text. Apostle John says, “…our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” (I John 1:3).
Beyond eschewing sin and destroying the works of darkness, Christ’s purpose was to bring you into fellowship with the Father, and He has done it! He has brought us into a fellowship of oneness with the Father, for as 1 Corinthians 6:17 declares, “…He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.”
Everyone has been saved from sin, but not all have come into fellowship with God. And this is why God didn’t rapture you into heaven immediately you were born again. He left you here on earth to win your world for Him and bring the lost into fellowship with Him. “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation” (1 Corinthians 5:18).
