SERVICE-ORIENTED
(Be Selfless In Your Service)
Be glad whenever you have the opportunity to render service, both to God and to humanity.
To The Bible Matthew 20:27-28 KJV
“And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”
LET’S TALK
The Lord Jesus was the epitome of selfless service. Though He was the Son of God, He humbled himself as a man and gave His life as a ransom for the whole world. Now, He says “…your attitude must be like my own, for I the messiah did not come to be served but to serve and to give my life as a ransom” (Matthew 20:27-28). That means you ought to copy the Master’s attitude in being service-oriented. You shouldn’t desire for others to serve you, or to be lord over others.
As you grow through the knowledge of God’s Word, He expects you to see the needs of those around you and be inspired to meet them. You should come to the point where you take up responsibilities even before being told. In your local church, for example, you shouldn’t be content with merely being a member who others have to visit and encourage to attend meetings; you must outgrow that and become one who visits new believers and helps build them up in Christ.
When there is work to be done in the house of God, don’t be among those who complain. Always be enthusiastic about serving the Lord and helping others, not necessarily expecting to be applauded by others. Do whatever you do as unto the Lord, and you can be sure that the Lord will bless, promote and exalt you in due season (Hebrews 6:10).
