Luke had a new respect for words which he would not let go of easily: He was in high school and had poor grades in Mathematics. One day, his Mathematics teacher asked him what the challenge was with the subject. Luke, shrugging his shoulders, blurted, “I really don’t understand the formulas, sir!” His teacher smiled and said, “Yes, you do understand! Say you do , and you will.” He then encouraged Luke to repeat the words, “I understand Mathematical formulas” several times each day while studying, which Luke did. Soon, his grasp of the Mathematical formulas increased so much that he kept scoring high scores in every class test. Luke had activated his understanding with the use of words!
Some people share similar experiences as they have poor grades in life, even when they’ve “ believed ” the Gospel. What they don’t realise is that believing isn’t enough. It’s like having faith and not using it; it’s not going to work. You must put your faith to work for it to produce results.
As shown in our opening verse, even though you’ve believed the Gospel and have been made right with God, you may never enjoy the benefits of salvation until you act on the underlined part of the opening text. Your confession is what catapults you into the vital experience of salvation; this means your mouth-work is important. They’ll direct the course of your life beginning with salvation. “With the mouth, confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:10)
The word “confession” is from the Greek word “ homologeo ,” which means speaking the same thing in consent, to say the same things in agreement with God. That means when God says something, you respond by speaking in agreement with what He has said. “…for He has said…so we may boldly say…”(Hebrews 13:5).
Don’t stop at believing, confess the Word of God over your life; your academics, your health, your family and even over your friends you want to be converted.
