ARE YOU IN THE FAMILY?
DON’T HIDE YOURSELF IN THE CROWD; WE’RE A FAMILY
Matthew 12:50 “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
The moment you were born again, you actually became a member of the greatest Family on
earth, the Family of God (Ephesians 2:19). The church is not a collection of people with different ideas, goals and inclinations. What’s more, you’re more than just a face in the crowd. You’re a member of the Family of God. “For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones” (Ephesians 5:30). Therefore, your desire must be to become better acquainted with your heavenly Father until His personality becomes noticeable in you. You should also get to know your fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord.
Hebrews 2:11 says, “He purifies people from their sins, and both he and those who are made pure all have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his family” (GNB). Never hide yourself in the crowd in church. You may have started out that way, but you shouldn’t remain like that. It’s part of our mission in our ministry to know people and to love them. We want to build them in God’s Word. So, if you have been isolating yourself from everyone else in church, then it’s high time you changed that.
The Lord’s vision for His Family is for each member to be “rooted and built up in Him (Christ) and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:7). Simply put, the vision is building, equipping and sending. Always remember that you may not be forced from the little “nest” you’ve created for yourself. But the moment you give other members of the family an opportunity to know you, you’ll discover a family you’ve never known; you’ll discover treasures you’ve never opened; you’ll see a gift that was never unveiled: the Word of God revealed in a human vessel.
This is the greatest revelation you could ever have.
