TO THE BIBLE: Psalm 37:4 RSV
“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
LET’S TALK
When the Bible says you should “take delight in the Lord,” it’s another way of saying, “Get excited about the Lord!” To be “excited” means “to be stirred by strong emotion.” This means that when you think about Jesus, you’re stirred in your heart about Him; you think about Him fondly and want to do things to please Him.
That’s the kind of man David was; he loved to please God (Psalm 122:1). He was so excited about God that God remarked that he was “…a man after My own heart…” (Acts 13:22). The Word says when you delight yourself in the Lord, He would “…cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father…” (Isaiah 58:14). Did you see that? Those who’re excited about God will always have supernatural happenings in their lives; God personally causes them to live above the system of the world!
Every day for them is glorious and colourful. But those who aren’t excited about Him have a dull experience of life, even though they’re saved. When you delight yourself in the Lord, the Bible says He “…will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4 RSV). In other words, when you’re excited about God, you wouldn’t need to pray for anything for yourself! While the desire is yet in your heart, God will give it to you! Hallelujah!
