James 1:22-24 NASB “…Prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.

“I don’t like the way Jordyn, Ivy and Annika snicker at me in class,” Roberta sobbed to Simon her elder brother, “they all say I’ve got a big nose. They make me feel like leaving school or even getting some surgery done.”
“Hey, don’t do any of that! Simon cautioned, Pay the girls no mind because they secretly want to be like you. Jesus has made you both beautiful in and out, and theres no one like you in the whole world. Just focus on what Hes done in you and not what others say of you.
Our opening scripture isnt dealing with the image, in terms of the external form or representation of the one who looks at himself in the mirror, but with the manner or kind of man. A doer of the Word doesnt forget the manner of man he is: the quality of his personality. Youd understand this better if we read from the eighteenth verse; it says, Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures (James 1:18). God gave birth to us by the Word of truth; that is, the Gospel of Christ, so that we should be a kind or type of firstfruits of His creatures. Thats awesome!
Whats the meaning of firstfruits, you might ask? It means the first and the best of Gods creatures. When you were born again, you came up with a new kind and quality of lifethe God-life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. As a new creation in Christ Jesus, youre the perfection of beauty, and the best of everything God made. Youre superior to satan. Get to know the quality of your personality. Its the reason we bring the Word of God to you every day on different platforms, to enlighten you on who you are in Christ.

Dear Father, I thank you for making me the first and the best of everything you created. I’m the perfection of beauty, fashioned for excellence. My life is the manifestation of your glorious and majestic splendour; I display your perfections and unveil your multifaceted wisdom to the world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
