THE PROPER ORDER ;
(Follow The Laid Down Patterns Of God’s Word) ;
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome;
TO THE BIBLE
1 Chronicles 15:13 “For because you did not do it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us because we did not consult Him about the proper order.”
LET’S TALK
Wouldn’t it be funny to see someone ironing his or her clothes properly and afterward putting them in the washing machine? That’s not the right order to take when preparing clothes to be worn, is it? There’s a pattern to follow. In the same way, God wants you to carry out the instructions He gives you according to His prescribed order. To do otherwise is to go against His perfect will.
Let us cite an example: David didn’t follow the Lord’s prescribed order in moving the ark of God into Jerusalem. David had got a new cart, and two men, Uzzah and Ahio, rode in the cart together with the ark as they drove it (2 Samuel 6:3). All of a sudden, the oxen pulling the cart stumbled and the cart shook. Uzzah tried to stop the ark from falling and when he did, he died instantly. David, baffled and afraid at what had happened, wouldn’t bring the ark into the city anymore. They had to keep it in the house of a man named Obed-edom.
Interestingly, all the time the ark of God was in Obededoms house, he and his family prospered exceedingly. David couldn’t but wonder why the same ark that Uzzah touched and died would bring so much blessing to another man and his family. Then he found out why: In 1 Chronicles 15:2, Gods prescribed order was that only the priests (the Levites) should carry the ark of God. That was Gods plan (1 Chronicles 15:13). How important this is!
Had they followed Gods proper order, Uzzah could have been spared. It brings to mind what the Lord told Moses while he was to set up the Tabernacle: See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain” (Hebrews 8:5). There’s a pattern; there’s a prescribed order in doing the things of God; follow it and you’ll experience His grace and blessings in your life and service of God.
