You shall rise before the gray headed and honour the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:32
The way you greet people says a lot about you, more than you could imagine. We serve the God of order, and He wants us to do things the right way. It’s His desire that His children give due respect to those that are older than them.
There are several examples of this in the Bible: Jacob, Joseph, David, even our Lord Jesus gave due respect to the elderly. So when you meet someone older than you, greet them well, not just like you would greet your friend, but with some respect.
