(God Has Made You A King and A Priest)

THE IMPORTANCE OF MEDITATION BY PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

TO THE BIBLE – Revelation 5:10 AMPC
“… You have made them a kingdom (royal race) and priests to our God, and they shall reign [as kings] over the earth!”

LET’S TALK
Our opening scripture above may sound too big to the religious mind, but it’s the truth for everyone who’s born again. It’s not a promise; it’s  a statement of fact, a present-hour reality. You’ve got to realise that the life of God in you has made you a king. Even if the circumstances of your life suggest the contrary, you’re still a king. God sees a king whenever He looks at you.

When God created the first man, He made him a king (Genesis 1:26) and then commanded him to take dominion over everything He created. He instructed him to “…Be fruitful, and multiply; and fill the earth and subdue it…” (Genesis 1:28). Therefore, refuse to stoop or cower before anyone or any situation, for you’re not a beggar; you’re a child of God. It’s your responsibility to make the circumstances of your life subject to God’s Word.

As a priest of God, prayer is your solemn and sovereign responsibility. However, your understanding of your kingly status will ultimately influence how you carry out this priestly responsibility. You’re not meant to beg for anything you desire; you should declare what you want.

The reason many aren’t living as kings is their ignorance of God’s Word (Galatians 4:1). You must let the Word build and train you in the things of God. You must come into your position as a king and a priest of God. Then your life will be filled with testimonies, and you’ll continue to experience the miraculous.

TO THE BIBLE – Proverbs 4:20-22 NIV
“My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.  Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body.”

LET’S TALK
If an announcement was made that a certain drug could cure any kind of sickness, including cancer and HIV/AIDS, I dare say that many people would go for that master-drug. Even if they weren’t sick, they would like to have it. Unbeknown to many, the Word of God is that drug!

The Bible says the Word is life and health to the body. The word translated “health” in the scripture is the same word for “medicine.” So that portion of the scripture could read: “For they are life to those who find them and medicine to a man’s whole body.”

The Word of God has the ability to heal all manner of sicknesses and diseases and cause health in your body. It has been proven, tested and tried many times. Even when science has given up on any situation, the Word dares to prevail. If you would take the Word into your system, it will produce results in your body. It will heal you and get rid of the flu, migraine headaches, cancer, and every unwanted growth in your body. As you open your heart in faith to receive the Word right now, it will produce in you what it talks about. If you would meditate on it long enough, it’ll change your genotype, cleanse your blood, get rid of the blood disease, and heal your bones, heart, and skin. It will do a miracle inside you today!

Keep talking the Word of God to that wound; talk to that cancer; talk to your blood cells. The Word of God has divine ability to heal. Remember, the Word of God is the maker of the whole universe. If you would trust in and keep the Word inside you, no sickness or disease will stand against you successfully.

LET’S TALK
There’re several scriptures in the Bible that tells us to depend on the Lord and not on men or chariots. This brings to mind about the encounter between Jesus and the paralytic by the pool of Bethesda. Jesus asked him, “Do you want to be healed?” Instead of saying, “Yes! I want to be healed,” he began to complain about his condition and how there was no one to help him into the pool every time the angel stirred the water. He almost missed his miracle right there because he had become overwhelmed by his situation and his focus was on man’s help (John 5:1-9).

The reason many don’t experience God’s help in their lives as they should is that they’re easily overwhelmed by their challenges. Moreover, their focus is on the help they seek from men. Man’s help may be inadequate or short-lived, but God is able to do exceeding abundantly above what you ask or desire (Ephesians 3:20). And His help will surely stand the test of time.

Don’t let the problem you’re facing becloud your vision of a better, prosperous, healthier and fulfilling life. Let God touch your life with His power and glory. There’s nothing you can’t do through the power of God that is working in your life. The Holy Spirit has been sent by God the Father to help you. He is your Helper, Strengthener, Counsellor, Guide, Instructor, and Teacher. He alone has lifting power, healing power, helping power or any other power you require in your life today. That power is going to work on your behalf today.

LET’S TALK
It may sound incredulous to the religious minds of this world to think that God Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, needs you. But in reality He does! He needs you to reach the world for Him. Whenever He wants to do something, He does it through people. Contrary to the opinion of many, He doesn’t just do whatever He desires on earth; He needs the invitation of man to actualise His plans on earth.

When He wants something done, He looks for someone through whom He can achieve His plan. For example, when He wanted to cut a covenant with man, He found Abraham; when He wanted to deliver the children of Israel, He found Moses; when He wanted to deliver mankind from the dominion of sin and death, He sent His Son in the form of a man. In the same way, God needs you in your world.

Jesus said, “…The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Luke 10:2 NIV). If God could do it all alone, why would He rely on labourers in the field? You see, we’re living in the last days, which is also the day of harvest. Souls are being won to Christ like never before in the history of man. This period will ultimately culminate in the second coming of the Lord Jesus. Your role, during this period, is to tell people what Jesus has done for you.

There’re people you meet in your world that I may never meet until we get to heaven. I’m talking about your neighbours, schoolmates, friends, and family members. God wants you to carry the message of salvation to them; He wants you to win and also disciple them. There’s nothing more glorious than that!

GOD IS LOVE!

TO THE BIBLE – 1 John 4:16 TLB
“We know how much God loves us because we have felt his love… God is love, and anyone who lives in love is living with God and God is living in him”

LET’S TALK
What a beautiful statement this is from the Word of God! How vital it is to know that God loves you; you must acknowledge that fact in your spirit. God loves you so dearly and He proved it by the price He paid for you in sending His Son, Jesus, to die for you (John 3:16). You are worth the blood of His Son Jesus.

God so loved you and didn’t want you to perish. So He made a way to save you. Since you were worth so much to Him, He paid the ultimate price – the life of His Son, Jesus. If you were the only one on the planet, Jesus would still have come to die for you. That should let you know just how much you’re worth to God.

In Romans 5:8, the Bible says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Great news! Jesus wants the world to know that the Father loves us as much as He loves Him. That means Jesus is concerned about your success and well-being. He wants the world to know that the Father has placed as much value on you as He has on Him. Jesus said in John 17:23, “I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”

Let the thoughts of God’s love dwell in your heart; realising that it cost God the very life of His Son to save you. That means you belong exclusively to Him. Never again should you look down on yourself and think, “Well I’m not worthy, I’m just a wretch.” No, that will be an insult to God. You are not your own anymore; you belong to God now.

THE WORD ON YOUR LIPS

(Your Talking Of The Word Is God Talking)

IT MATTERS WHAT YOU SEE

TO THE BIBLE – Joshua 1:8
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

LET’S TALK
The primary principle for success and prosperity is clear in our opening verse: keep the Word on your lips! That means you’ve got to talk it. It’s not enough to have the Word in your heart; it must come out of your mouth. The Lord Jesus said in Luke 6:45, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good….” The proof that you have the Word in your heart is that it comes out of your mouth.

Only “talking” Christians win in life. And by that I don’t mean loquacious Christians; I mean those who talk the Word. You can’t talk God’s Word consistently and be weak, poor, broke, sick or defeated. It doesn’t matter that you were born poor or sick, but if you talk strength, victory and health, you’d always be victorious. In Mark 11:23, Jesus said you shall have what you say. This is the way of success.

God is concerned about your success; He put you on earth for that. Notice again His recipe for a successful, ever-winning, vibrant, and transcendent life: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth….” Your mouth is the key.

Nothing shall be impossible with you if you’d learn to use your mouth right; if you’d learn to speak the Word. No matter how hopeless a situation may look, you can effect a change with the Word. The Word of God on your lips is God talking; it’ll make you what it talks about; it’ll paralyze and disable fear in you, and cause you to heap success upon success.

YOUR HIGHEST FAITH

(Keep Your Faith At Its Highest Peak)

FOR AS THE FATHER HAS LIFE IN HIMSELF, SO HE HAS GRANTED THE SON TO HAVE LIFE IN HIMSELF.

TO THE BIBLE – Jude 1:20 AMPC
“But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit”

LET’S TALK
There’s a big difference between the verse above and what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:4 which reads, “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself….” The word “edify” in 1 Corinthians 14:4 means to build yourself up; it also means to charge yourself. However, what Jude was talking about is akin to building a super structure, when he said, “…build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith…praying in the Holy Ghost” (Jude 1:20 AMPC).

The Greek word translated “build up” is “epoikodomeo,” and it means to build on something that already exists. So Jude, by the Holy Spirit, is talking about building a super structure on something that’s already there. So, by telling you to build up yourself on your most holy faith, it means the most holy faith that he was referring to is already there. That “most holy faith” refers to your highest faith; your most sanctified faith; the topmost level of faith that you’ve attained at any given time. He says build on it by speaking in tongues; don’t go below it.

You know, we experience faith at different levels from time to time. Sometimes, we experience a very high level of faith, and some other times, our faith seems to go a little lower than usual. However, by speaking in tongues often, you build yourself up on that highest level of faith that you attained, and it becomes the benchmark. The next time, that highest level of faith becomes your lowest faith. Then, you operate from there, and get to another high level of faith, and keep building on it. As you receive God’s Word, your faith comes to a peak, but you build on it; you stabilise at that topmost level of faith through praying in tongues. At that level, no adversity, challenges, problems can pose a threat to you, for you’ve risen above them. Do this and watch your life grow remarkably.

Distinguishing God’s Thoughts From Carnal Thoughts

TO THE BIBLE – 1 John 3:1
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”

LET’S TALK
The Christian is the legal and vital child of God—a bona fide child of God. In 1 Corinthians 6:20, the Apostle Paul declared, “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” That’s the legal aspect of redemption: you’re bought with a price. And now, God has brought us to live in His class of being, and has poured Himself into us, thereby making our physical bodies His tabernacle of witness; His living temple: “…Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19). This is the vital aspect. The legal aspect made the vital experience of the God-life possible!

Some still think that what we have is just a legal righteousness, no; we have a vital righteousness. God has given us His righteousness, and now, you have the ability to stand in His presence without guilt, condemnation, or inferiority. In 1 John 3:1-2 KJV, the Apostle John cried out: “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God….” This isn’t a promise, neither is it a prophecy. It’s a declaration of reality, a present-hour truth.

The vital aspect of our sonship is that when you were born again, you were born of the Spirit of God (1 Peter 1:23). Now, you have the life of God in you; you have ceased to be an ordinary person; you live a supernatural life. In 1 John 3:1, the Apostle John carefully chose the word, “teknon,” to explain that we’re vital sons of God; we’re born of Him NOW, not someday, or when we get to heaven, but now! It happened immediately you were born again. Glory!

TO THE BIBLE – Ephesians 6:12-13 CEV
“We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm.”

LET’S TALK
Man in himself isn’t as wicked as you see, for God made man in His image and in His likeness. He made man to look like Him and to function like Him (Genesis 1:26); but there’s something that remotely controls the man who’s not born of God, and causes him to think, talk, and act wickedly (Ephesians 2:2).

Thank God, that’s not the case with us His children! We aren’t left hamstrung or defenseless against the attacks of the enemy. When pressures from these wicked spirits come at you, be unruffled! As long as you’re fully-clothed with the full armour of God, you’ll be able to resist and extinguish the cruel and fiendish onslaught from the evil one, and remain standing in the evil day.

Satan and his demons are no threat for the Christian. You have the dominion and authority over principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. God has given you the spiritual weapons with which to keep them at bay (Read Ephesians 6:13-19).

Act on the Word. Get on the offensive against the enemy by keeping the whole armour of God on you all the time, not some of the time. Stand firm and be unshakable, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness in place, and your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of peace. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And pray in the Spirit on all occasion with all kinds of prayers and requests. Hallelujah!

DON’T BUCKLE UNDER PRESSURE

“And do not [for a moment] be frightened or intimidated in anything by your opponents and adversaries, for such [constancy and fearlessness] will be a clear sign (proof and seal) to them of [their impending] destruction, but [a sure token and evidence] of your deliverance and salvation, and that from God.”

LET’S TALK
“I don’t know what to do,” “I’m in such a mess,” “This trouble is greater than me,” are the kind of  words you hear some people say when they’re faced with difficulty or adversity. That should never be your talk! As a Christian, you’re a victor forever; therefore, never be concerned about who’s against you or the challenges that you face. For example, anyone who sets himself up as your adversary will of necessity stumble and fall. You don’t have to pray about it; the Word already gave the outcome: “…When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell” (Psalm 27:1-2).

So you see, the adversaries and adversities that you face are not a factor. The Bible says, “…He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). You’re unconquerable. James 1:2 says, “My friends, be glad, even if you have a lot of trouble” (CEV). You may be faced with challenges in your academics; be glad about it, because no matter what happens, you’re coming through with a testimony.

Refuse to faint or lose heart in the day of crisis; God believes in you! He believes that He’s trained you enough to face challenges and win. Even when you’ve prayed and the trouble seemed not to have gone away, refuse to give up. We never buckle under pressure! We never cry when we face challenges. Eyeball the devil and say, “Devil, no matter what you do, I’m more than a conqueror, because greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world.” You’ve got the comfort of the Scriptures and the assurance of the Holy Ghost that you can never be defeated. So refuse to be terrified by anything.
