(God’s Wisdom Brings All-Round Success and Prosperity)
TO THE BIBLE: Ecclesiastes 6:1-2 NIV
“I have seen another evil under the sun, and it weighs heavily on men: God gives a man wealth, possessions and honor, so that he lacks nothing his heart desires, but God does not enable him to enjoy them, and a stranger enjoys them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.”
LET’S TALK
Imagine a wealthy entrepreneur with a large corporation that employs thousands of workers. He’s got a lot of money in the bank, and much more comes in on a daily basis, but he’s unable to enjoy all his riches because his health is failing. Meanwhile, others who aren’t even members of his household, are making loads of money and living large off his investments. The Bible says, “…This is meaningless, a grievous evil” (Ecclesiastes 6:2 NIV).
God’s plan for you is not to be rich and sick; He wants you to have all-round prosperity—total soundness and prosperity with peace. That’s what He gave Solomon when he became king. Solomon had been smart enough to ask God for wisdom, like his father David had taught him. And God gave him wisdom plus everything else! The Bible says, “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding … Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace” (Proverbs 3:13, 16-17).
Wisdom is that essential quality that gives you all-round success and all-round prosperity. If you’re born again, happy are you, for Christ—the embodiment of wisdom—now lives in you. You have at your disposal the wisdom of God that guarantees your prosperity with peace.
