Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain and it rained not in the Earth by the space of three years and six months and he prayed again and the heaven gave rain and the earth brought forth her fruit.

This is telling us that Elijah was like anyone of us. Elijah was a man like you and me. He liked to sleep like some of us,he liked to eat, he was influenced by the same kind of things we are influenced with today.

Another version says Elijah was a man with a nature like ours.

He’s talking about human qualities, human feelings. He could be tired like you and he prayed earnestly that I might not rain and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months and he prayed again and there was rain.

Hes telling us that the man had results when he prayed but he was like the rest of us. Why did James have to tell us this? He had said something in the 16th verse

It says “Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that you may be healed, the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availaith much.”
This verse deals with healing

Amplified version says
“The earnest heartfelt continues prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available dynamic in it’s working”

If you are born again, he’s talking about you, he says you can pray a prayer that will make tremendous power available dynamic in its working.

The problem many of us have is that we do not have confidence in our prayer, when we pray we are not sure God is hearing us, but that means we do not have confidence in his word because he said if we pray he will hear and answer but we dont trust that enough.

You may think he’s not talking to everybody so he may not hear you because you think others are better than you are, so when they pray God will hear them but you are not so sure he will hear you because you have done a lot of wrong things.

But God doesn’t hear you on the basis of your goodness or your perfection he hears you on the basis on the name of Jesus. If you pray in the name of Jesus he will hear and answer.

You have to come to the point in your life when you have absolute confidence in the name of Jesus. Such that when you pray in his name you dont have to wait to see it first, you know it’s done in his name. Because he said if you would ask in his name he would answer.

Also he gave us the power of attorney to use his name, the legal right to act in his stead by the use of his name.
John 14: 12-14
Verily verily I say unto you he that believes in me the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do because i go unto my father and whatsoever you shall ask in my name that will i do that the father may be glorified in the son, if you shall ask anything in my name I will do it.

This looks like prayer but it’s not prayer. He said if you shall ask anything in my name I will do it. That’s not prayer. You cannot ask Jesus anything in Jesus name. And he doesnt mean if you ask the father in his name then he Jesus will do it. You cannot ask the Father and Jesus comes to do it.

Prayer is in John 16:23-24 which says
And in that day you sha ask me nothing verily verily I say unto you, whatsoever you shall ask the father in my name he will give it to you. Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name, ask and ye shall recieve that your joy may be full. That’s talking about prayer.

The way we pray in the new testament is to ask the father in the name of Jesus.
A lot of times people pray to Jesus in the name of Jesus, that doesnt make spiritual sense.

You pray to the father in the name of Jesus. Because that is the power of attorney that you are excersicing.

It means that you can make a demand of the demand of the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Father will give it to you because you are asking in the name of Jesus. It’s as though Jesus was asking by himself.

If he is not talking about prayer in John 14:14, its important to understand what he is talking about.
He is telling you, whatever you demand to be done in my name I will be back of it. That means his power is in his name.

You will find this where peter and john encountered the man at the gate beautiful and said in the name of Jesus rise up and walk. He wasn’t demanding anything of the Father or of Jesus, he was using the name of Jesus.

That means you can put your hand over that cancer and say in the name of Jesus dry up.

He gave us the legal authority to use his name. Do you have arthritis you command the knee to bend in the name of Jesus.

The bible says that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, that’s not a promise, it’s a sovereign declaration of the almighty God. God has declared that every knee should bow at the name of Jesus and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

Theres no demon hatched out of hell that can stand the name of Jesus. Theres no sickness that can stand his name.

You can use the name of Jesus to stand against any sickness or trouble.

He says Elijah was a man like any one of us and he prayed and got results.
Peter denied Jesus yet look what he become. Paul was a murderer but God changed his life. He can take an ordinary person and something special out of him. He knows except what to do about your life.
Learn to yield to God and make yourself available to him.

He said the effectual fervent prayer, meaning hes not dealing with ordinary prayer. Even when you speak in other tongues there are levels. There is a higher level where your speaking in tongues becomes heart felt and by the time your spirit gains the mastery you will find yourself moving in the realm that is higher than the natural plain of life.

What you need is the holy ghost. You should come to the point in your life where you should no longer be subservient to sickness and weakness and all manner of infirmity.

The day you recieved the holy ghost you were anointed to live a supernatural life. The word of God is the place to live in, you have to dwell there.
