To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.

TO THE BIBLE: Revelation 1:5

“And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,”

LET’S TALK

In our theme scripture, Jesus is described as “the firstborn from the dead.” But the death being referred to here isn’t physical death but spiritual death. Physical death refers to cessation of the human life, but spiritual death refers to total separation from God. This was what Jesus had to endure. He took man’s place, became the sacrifice for his sins, and was disconnected from the Father (2 Corinthians 5:21). Then He went to hell on man’s behalf so he wouldn’t have to go there anymore. Now, only those who don’t accept Him and what He’s done for them will go to hell.

Although Jesus went to hell, He didn’t remain there. On the third day, He was raised by the glory of the Father, and you were raised together with Him. Today, you have the resurrection life at work in you.

Prior to His resurrection, Jesus was referred to as “the only begotten of the Father” (John 1:14), but right after the resurrection, He was called “the first begotten” from the dead (Revelation 1:5 KJV). This is because all of us who have received Him are just like Him now; we arose from spiritual death and are now alive unto God! You and I and other Christians are brothers and sisters; we’re all sons and daughters of God, because of the resurrection life. Hallelujah!

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for sending Jesus to die in my place, so that I may have His resurrection life. I walk with the consciousness of who you’ve created me to be. I reign over all of life’s circumstances, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
