Heaven’s General Assembly

Heaven’s General Assembly;

“But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, …” (Hebrews 12:22-23).

Some people are so deeply committed to the land of their nativity. They take pride in being African, American, British, Oriental, European, Australian, Latino, and so on. But the truth is until you disconnect yourself from the roots of an earthly nativity you’d never really walk in the light of your salvation. You need to realize that when you’re born again you become a member of the commonwealth of Israel (Ephesians 2:12). You become a member of Heaven’s General

Assembly. I’m not making you a promise, but showing you the truth, as revealed in God’s Word! You become a fellow-citizen in God’s Kingdom when you’re born again; heaven becomes your authentic home-country.

This is the reason you must look beyond your natural citizenship—the country of your earthly nativity to the glorious heavenly inheritance reserved for those who are born into God’s Kingdom! That’s the real “God’s own country,” and you’re a bona-fide citizen if you’re born again.

In the countries of the world for example, to know and exercise your civic rights, duties, liberty and obligations you’d have to study the constitution of your native country. In the same way, to explore and get to know your heavenly rights, privileges and inheritance in Christ, you’d have to study God’s Word; that’s our constitution as heavenly citizens. In it, you’d discover who you are, what you have, and what you can do in Christ.
