REFUSE CARNALITY;
(Have Value For Spiritual Things);
Refuse to condescend to the low level of being controlled by your senses. Esteem God’s Word beyond everything the world can offer.
To The Bible Genesis 25:29-33 RSV
Once when Jacob was boiling pottage, Esau came in from the field, and he was famished. And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red pottage, for I am famished!“ (Therefore his name was called Edom.) Jacob said,”First sell me your birthright.“ Esau said,” I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?“ Jacob said,”Swear to me first.“ So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.’
LET’S TALK
A certain day in the Bible, Esau was hungry and wanted some food from his brother Jacob. When Jacob asked for the birthright in exchange, Esau’s reply showed that he had no regard for it, though it was sacred. “Look, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?” Esau said. He knew that the birthright had blessings, but that didn’t mean anything to him. He sold his birthright to Jacob for food and didn’t consider the spiritual implication of his action. It cost him the inheritance, which his younger brother got in his place.
Hebrews 12:17 says, “…when he (Esau) wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.” Esau was sense-ruled. The Bible refers to him as profane (Hebrews 12:16). He allowed his immediate desire and need of his flesh to govern him. He treated sacred things with disregard and didn’t esteem the blessings of God. Don’t be this way!
This is what the Apostle Paul describes as being carnally minded. It’s to set your mind on the natural things of life; on the things you can perceive with your senses that give immediate gratification. Romans 8:6 say, “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
To enjoy life and peace, you must have high esteem for spiritual things. Don’t end up like Esau did; have regard for spiritual things like Jacob. He was after the blessing, which is spiritual and greater.

RELATE: Speak
I’m spiritually minded. I don’t base my opinions, judgments and responses on what my physical senses tell me. Rather, I live according to the information passed to my spirit from the Word of God, in the Name of Jesus.
