Mike: Hey Dave, your name is in the dailies as the youngest member of the team that built the town hall! You made a name for yourself, how much did you give?
Dave: I didn’t give any money; I gave my time.
Mike: Your time, how? You know I really wanted to be involved too, but I never had the cash to give.
Dave: I was thinking that way too until my Dad told me everything isn’t about money. He advised me to get involved by giving my time. So every evening I worked two hours with them on the site, and helped to remove the debris.
Sometimes, people think the most important thing they need in order to be relevant in life is money, but that’s not true. What’s most important is your mind. Our opening scripture admonishes us to be transformed in the character of our minds. This is because the first and most vital element you need for success is your mind. Whether or not you’re going to be a success in life depends on your mind-set.
Dave didn’t wait until he could give money; he gave his time and made history for himself. Success, prosperity, and greatness aren’t a function of where you are, but who you are on the inside. Proverbs 23:7 let’s us know that as a man thinks within himself, so is he. This is why your mind-set is so important. The Word of God gives you the mind-set of the righteous; therefore, study it and develop the excellent thinking processes of a champion.
