TO THE BIBLE: Isaiah 30:21
‘Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.’
LET’S TALK
Distinguishing God’s Thoughts From Carnal Thoughts
Femi always wanted to be sure that his thoughts and choices were in line with God’s. Sometimes, he would hesitate before doing something, wondering if it was the Holy Spirit who spoke to him to do it, or just his mind.
Indeed, there’s a way to discern God’s thoughts from carnal thoughts. At the “freshman” level, when you’re just beginning your walk with Christ, you judge what is right by finding out if the idea you have is good for people and for God. Does the idea bring God glory? Does it inspire and uplift others? If yes, it’s God’s voice speaking to you.
However, you can’t tell what brings God glory except you know His Word. That means you have to be acquainted with His Word. The more you get acquainted with God’s Word, the better you become at discerning His voice and knowing what pleases Him. As you do this wholeheartedly, God begins to unveil to you the finer things of the spirit, and that in turn will help you understand the deeper realities about God.
